072 -Are You Ready To Rejoin Society?
Tuesday May 25, 2021
Tuesday May 25, 2021
At long last, it feels like we may be able to see people again - soon. While this is a relief for many, it can be terrifying as well. It has been a while since many of us could go to an office, or attend a meeting in person - and over the course of the last year, new routines and comfort level have been developed where simply 'returning to normal' isn't as simple as flipping a switch.
In this episode, we talk about how you can deal with your own reservations, and understand the different perspectives people may have as we all start to return to a world that looks a bit like it did two years ago...will it even look the same at all?

070 - Mom (and dad) guilt
Tuesday May 11, 2021
Tuesday May 11, 2021
If you have kids and you have a job, it's likely you've felt 'mommy guilt'. You have responsibilities for work, and to fulfill them, you are forced to split your time between the job and the kids.
Even though we're home a lot more now, the distractions we face are even larger, and the ability to do our jobs effectively and at the same time feel like we are giving our kids the attention they deserve can be super hard. You've got to tone down that guilt, and level up your ability to deal with it.
In this episode, we talk about the mommy guilt, and the daddy guilt that is commonly felt, and walk through some ways that you can actually deal with it. It's not easy out there, and balancing family and a career is even harder when you're all forced to be under the same roof ALL THE TIME, but we take a step back and look at where you can cut through the guilt and actually make the most of this time.
This isn't just for the people with kids. If you feel like you are neglecting anything or anyone because of your job, or that you are misplacing your priorities and it makes you feel like you aren't maximizing your efficiency - have a listen. Let this podcast be this week's guilty pleasure :)

069 - Hiring Real Estate Assistants
Monday May 03, 2021
Monday May 03, 2021
Nasma Ali, Founder of One Group, joins us this week to give us all of her tips and strategies to successfully hire and work with real estate assistants. Nasma is a top producing Toronto Realtor and team leader and she recognized early on in her career that hiring an assistant was a necessary part to level up her real estate business.
Through the years, Nasma has hired virtual assistants along with assistants within her local market to help her to be better organized and allow her to focus on the parts of the business that matter the most - her clients and her team. In this video, she provides us with so much valuable advice on the best ways to find the right people, the tasks to assign and how to develop long-term relationships with an assistant built on trust.

068 - The Most Important Money Making Activity You Need
Monday Apr 26, 2021
Monday Apr 26, 2021
We spend a ton of time trying to find the secret to bringing in lots of deals.
Fancy marketing, mass communications, content plans...it's all useful, but it is all focused on 'lead gen' and 'finding' the deals. If that's where you're spending all of your time, you're missing the boat, and you're missing the point.
In this episode, we talk about the importance of actually connecting with people, building relationships, and the impact it has on your bottom line. You want more deals, so start working people up the ladder from cold, to warm, to hot, instead of adding more cold to a growing list.
You'll like this one - it's time to level up your connections.

067 -What Is Everyone Else Thinking?
Monday Apr 19, 2021
Monday Apr 19, 2021
We deal with a lot of people in this business - clients, colleagues, leads...and one thing rings true for all of them - we don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
It is natural to make assumptions about what people are thinking in different situations. 'They think I did a bad job', ' They must hate this place', 'There is no way they will pay full commission'...but we all know what happens when we assume. :)
The reality is that there are steps we can take to learn more, but we'll never have the full picture of anyone's life other than our own.
This episode talks about what you can (and also what you shouldn't) be doing to learn more about the people in your personal and professional lives. We also talk about some of the assumptions we make about our clients and colleagues, and why you are probably wrong.
You don't need to be psychic to get the information you need - but you also don't need all the information, because often it isn't meant for you.

066 - Your Quarterly Check Up
Monday Mar 29, 2021
Monday Mar 29, 2021
Can you believe that April is already staring us in the face?
We are a quarter of the way into the year, and the sun is starting to shine a little brighter, the weather is getting warmer, and hopefully the same can be said for your progress to this point on your annual goals.
Levelling up your 2021 becomes considerably easier when you know what you are trying to accomplish. If you've been with us for a while, you've gone through the annual plan for yourself (if not, see the bottom of the show notes for a recap of how you can put your annual plan together).
Creating a plan is only one part of the battle. Executing and evaluating your are the crucial steps you need to take to bring your plan to life. You have goals, where are you at on the road to achieving them? What have you been doing, and how has it been working?
The quarter point is the first opportunity we take to really dive in to a progress report, so all of the tactics that have been in place for the year can be put into context against the bigger plan. In this episode, we talk about how you can give yourself a little quarterly check up - and also reinforce that it isn't too later to get your plan in place if you haven't yet made one (you don't have to wait until next year!!).

065 - Working With Investors (Live interview with Gary Hibbert)
Monday Mar 22, 2021
Monday Mar 22, 2021
Have you ever wanted to work with real estate investors?
Focusing on a particular niche can be a great way to bring better direction to your real estate business and investors is one segment worth considering.
This week, we are chatting with Gary Hibbert - a full-time Real Estate Investor, licensed and award-winning Real Estate Agent, Author, and Educator. In 2010, Gary launched Smart Home Choice, a company dedicated to educating new and experienced investors through a focus on SMART goals in order to allow them to make informed decisions in their investing strategies.
Currently, Smart Home Choice is one of Durham Region’s largest groups of Real Estate Investors and although the company is continually growing, it offers networking, mentoring, and self-improvement opportunities to its members. In addition to Smart Home Choice, Gary is the owner of a private investment company called Deep Pockets and most recently has joined in a partnership of ownership of a real estate brokerage; Our Neighbourhood Realty.
Gary attributes his success to his focus on improving his mindset, rather than improving his skillset and most importantly discovering his “why”. He is also dedicated to helping others realize their “why”, because that is the realization that led Gary to where he is today. Gary also has a weekly podcast, Real Talk with Gary, where he talks to leaders in real estate investing and beyond with the goal of inspiring and educating anyone willing to change their mindset.

063 - Women and Land Rights Around The World
Monday Mar 08, 2021
Monday Mar 08, 2021
It is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate and honour women and girls around the world - but also a day to raise awareness, to ask tough questions, and to learn more about the hardships that women face in society today.
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with Esther Mwaura-Muiru (from Nairobi, Kenya), the Global Women's Land Rights Manager for the International Land Coalition. Esther is a remarkable woman doing remarkable work in advocating for women around the world who don't have the same rights to land that men enjoy.
Through her tireless work, she is raising awareness about this very important cause, and we couldn't think of a better person to talk to for International Women's Day, than Esther.
